I agree. And I think the most idiotic thing of all is that she may be facing so many years in prison. Come on, killing people isn't punished with so many years. This is a case of an individual looking for people's attention.

So for you it's ok to pay a lot of money to buy a product you can't fully use while people that get the same product illegally enjoy them in its full glory. Protection schemes and DRM only affects the people that acquire the media legally, it's completely insane. I fear Vista is so much DRM focused so they have forgotten that it's actually an OS and not a draconian right management system. I think also that MS would sell a lot more of copies of Windows XP if it didn's costed above 300. The fact is that even if you pay the big money the media companies don't offer replacement media if yours get broken or stolen so far I know, and they also charge you every time they como with a new format though you are getting the same thing. Most protection schemes are only ways to force people pay more for the same. Even if the cost of the base materials lowers, media price only gets up. Of course big companies make big money and they want to keep it coming. As simple as that. And think about this: Author and Companies have their rights, but what rights does the user have? Is there something like URM (Users Rights Management)? Nop there's only We-the-big-ones-rights-management.

Well, I think it's a mistake because it does not fit what people want, but they're selling it to us as if it were so.

I haven't bought some discs because they were copy-protected as if it were a feature and if you took the time to read the indications it could harm even your hardware (includen the cd player of your car).

So, why should I pay for? For a promise of damaged equipment? Sorry, but no. The actual business model is broken due to internet and all the new technologies, companies should seek for a new business model, threatening clients is not the solution.

Haven't they learned already that DRM and other protection schemes are pretty useless and they only damage the legal consumer? If they like to overprotect the data, I'm not buying it, it so easy.

I agree with the basic idea, JT is no replace for parents. If parents don't take care of their children it's not other people's fault.

...cannot protect your children because they're too far away from them plus I think you don't want an agent in your home watching what your kids do. Protecting children is parents' responsability. they should teach them properly so the chances of getting offended or getting into unadequate web sites will be drastically reduced. No cop and no lawyer can make the parent's job.

Hey guys, I suppose most of you already saw the Halo 3 trailer shown at E3. I think it is AS spectacular as ANY standard movie today. They should do a movie in that line. The Halo series are strongly based in its CG Graphics so some more won't hurt. It would be a disaster if they try to do it with real people.

  9. My advice on Taking Your Programming Skills to the Next Level? · · Score: 1

I've been programming since I was 8 years old and making small games is what kept me improving myself. Even a small game can be quite a challenge. Another big thing is emulation (which is the one I'm into right now), because it gives you a very good understanding how computers really work. I prefer technical documentation on languages or APIs than books, I like to go straight to the point and then do some experiments. So, I'd start a little game and then I'll continue improving it with some graphics and/or sound, just to get the taste of different things.

I usually like to play the games and, if they were good, I buy them XD I also like to go from time to time to flea markets, you can get some bargains there. And I also buy old machines (starting from Atari 2600) and some software for them.
