I agree... It's too expensive to putz around (legally) with MS stuff, especially if you're a college student. I'm taking a class now that requires me to use Rational Rose on NT at school. Never before have I had to use a school computer because I didn't have software, and the damned NT lab is always packed when I can get there. All of my other class work I've done on Linux at home. Luckily, at GMU, they seem to be pretty happy with the UNIX stuff on the backend. At the terminals, though... If you walk around the info desk in the Johnson building, there are 32 pc's running WinNT with netscape and telnet- at any given time 3 or 4 of them are crashed. For internet terminals like that, I was wondering if it would be possible to make a mozilla window manager?
Don't laugh, but for the last 9 months, my bookmark was to www.slashdot.org, which caused me to be logged in on the front page, but not on any interior pages. I switched it, and now I'm like moderating and stuff...
That site has been up for a while, I think.. I filled out a form to send mail to my reps saying I didn't like Microsoft, but I was oppossed to the antitrust trial. I clicked a box saying send me a copy, but I never did. I think they review the submissions rather than send 'em. Now I'm less oppossed to the trial...
So i went and changed the PW for the doms I manage- and I made a mistake... I got the email, it said xxxxx4 for user, and I jusr type xxxxx, so I accidentally changed the wrong password! D'oh!
They cannot register a domain name with a variation on their band's name- Sony has the exclusive right. This does not extend to people who don't sign the contract, eg. J. Random Webmaster- though through use of trademark law, they could conceivably achieve the same ends. Basically, this is just that Sony wants to owns the name as well as the music.
Could they fire all the band members and hire replacements?
