Of course, if more farmland was used for growing edible vegetables instead of corn and grain for livestock consumption, the price of fruit and veggies would probably go down quite a bit.
And in regard to your opening sentence, if people are forced to become vegetarian by a means other than their own choosing (market shortages, etc), how exactly will they not tolerate it? I mean, they won't have a choice, right?
I'm guessing it's because there just is a greater quantity of music that is older than you, and that time has a way of forgetting the mediocre. For every Beatles or Rolling Stones there were hundreds of bands forgettably ripping them off who have simply been swept aside.
As I am old enough to remember the early to mid-90's, it especially annoys me when people say that the music was better back then. Sure, there were bands like Sugar and Nirvana, but for god's sake we also had OMC and Jimmy Ray!
He didn't give us Windows, he forced windows on us...
I don't know about you, but I've never been "forced" to use Windows, unless it's on someone else's computer. Even back in the dark ages of the 90's I slapped a *nix on a new computer as soon as I got it.
While I totally agree with the sentiment, I would like to play devil's advocate for a second. It may well be that Gates taking credit for all of his philanthropy could do more good than if he remained anonymous. Publicly giving away so much money may put pressure on others to do the same.
Methinks you may not follow what the poster you are replying to was saying. Try typing "sudo rm -r ~/". It may stop you if you type the password wrong, but it won't stop you if you're just doing something stupid (or that you may not be aware you're doing).
Since the iPhone is more expensive than most Android phones and isn't 4g, it seems like they wouldn't have to try too hard to push people in another direction.
It's not absurd. Conventional is the proper term. And it does help the environment. No health issues.
I won't argue that conventional is the proper term or that health issues are debatable, but how does it "help the environment"? I would think that at best, conventional farming would be environmentally neutral. At worst, when considering clearing land for farming use, water usage, runoff issues, soil erosion, damage to ecosystems by introducing foreign flora and fauna... well, it could be pretty harmful.
I would definitely not agree that their products are long-lasting, when iPhones are essentially intended to be thrown out once the new model comes out. I would also not agree that they are environmentally friendly. Wrapped in environmentally friendly marketing, perhaps...
But the people who go on killing sprees are always the people who "were such good, quiet kids. We never saw this coming!" Kinda makes you wonder, if the people around them everyday can't see it coming, how will some computer?
I want to know what's up with all the news stories I've seen recently about "Teenagers with Hot Technology Jobs". They're always about some kid who got hired because of his "advanced coding skills" (HTML). Sheesh, I'm a teenager and I'd like to get a high paying job because of my "advanced coding skills", but all the ISP's, etc. in my area require NT, and MS Office experience (gee, I do have standards, ya know).

That might get in the way of the patent office's apparent aim of letting people patent absolutely anything though...

Actually, I got most of mine used or composed of used parts and opted to not have Windows installed, but I'm cheap like that.
