Not by choice! Mono apps are creeping into the latest distributions. For example, my SuSE 10.1 runs Tomboy (yellow notes) and Beagle (desktop search) by default. I couldn't agree more with you - Mono is a waste of development effort. If MS doesn't outright kill Mono sometime, it will certainly sabotage portability.

So, with that OSS argument against Java out of the way, can we drop the Mono desktop apps already?
.exe and .dll entries in my ps output gives me the shivers.
