Not too bad. A bit of clever marketing goes a long way. People could carry around their own OS on a read-only bootable disc/usb keychain and be sure they aren't being snooped upon by a piece of malware someone installed on, let's say, a internet caffe or a company computer.

I mean, many people already use web-based services and most of the data fits on an usb keychain. Not to mention that it's possible to mount a home directory using fuse+sshfs :)

Of course, optical readers produce a lot of hum when operating and require a spin-up after some idle time so perhaps a usb keychain could be a better alternative.

Perhaps the newbs should take a look at AfterStep, WindowMaker, FVWM, Enlightenment, etc.

WMs aren't KDE vs. Gnome and never were.

And now there are rumors that Apple will be copying Tablet PC.

So, what's the difference between Apple Newton and Tablet PC besides the size of the screen? :)

Anyways, it would be cool to have a mobile phone sized computer with a few gigs of flash disk space and connectors for external monitor+TV, keyboard and mouse with option just to plug it into a PC and work via some sort of VNC.

Now that would be a creative piece of work.

Animated cartoon character? Nonsense. What about somebody like Emily du Chatalet ( http://www.politics.guardian.co.uk/women/story/0,, 1774981,00.html , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89milie_du_Ch%C3% A2telet), a forgotten great mind that had more fun than Paris Hilton :)

The American soldiers fighting in Iraq went there to fight for the freedom of the Iraqi people.
Are you serious? If that were true, why doesn't the U.S.A go to fight for the freedom of the North Korean people that starve on the streets? Or, if we suppose that American soldiers really went to Iraq to fight for freedom of Iraq citizens, why was it done under the pretense of Iraq's WMD and not the freedom of the people? I'll tell you why - because it's not true.
