umm whats up with this public shools being poor? I've gone to both public and private (my mother used to teach at a monitsori school) and they BOTH SUCK. I read thrugh my education, made c- grades, and flunked outta junior collage. But i've heald technical jobs for the last 3 years. Of course until quite recently, the pay sucked. I fail to see the value of the kind of education schools offer. They feel that they must crush your strengths to strengthen your weaknesses. I am a lopsided person. Even I cant read my handwriteing (it looks like something between grafitti and a 3 year old's scribbles) I cant spell, and I have quite a hard time talking to non-technical people, but I know 5 programming languages well, and have a working knowlage of 2 more. I'm just about makeing as much as the guidance counceler that told me I needed a collage degree to get a programming job. I have yet to see any educational system that would have helped rather than hindered me.
what makes money fun is the challange of getting it. it's no fun if your parents ruin the challange by just giveing it to you. My parents are middle class, my mother is a teacher, and my father is a IS manager for a collage, so they do OK, but certanly can't buy me a house. At 19, I'm working as a programmer, and am just about to buy my first (albeit cheap) house.
