    I would not consider C++ as a Grandparent to Java, C# or .Net. This role would belong to Objective-C and OpenStep (OpenStep also has been licensed by Sun before coming along with Java). WebObjects was the first (Web) Application Server (1995 I believe) long before Sun had anything in this area.
