the 7" lcd screen is actually 800*600 but I think that would be good enough, it would cause more I strain if it was a higher resolution(1024*768 for example) on the same screen size.
If you think MS are ok read the Windows Vista EULA which gives MS the power to switch off your computer's os whenever they want without specifing a reason.
