just an idea,
people could organize a movement to overload these companies servers. it would make a good excuse because there would be no way to tell the difference between a person who intended to download the file in question, and a person who merely wished to take bandwidth from teh server.
After moving to Japan, I had to learn to do laundry the Japanese way. Even though we have a washer and dryer, it is customary to air dry our clothes. The more I stopped using the dryer, the more it made sense. Why use an electric appliance to dry something when it will dry its self? We still have a dryer just in case we need something dried quickly, but by and large, dryers are a waste.
I just got fiber to replace my DSL and I couldn't be happier. IMHO, the laws should favor the consumers, making it easier for them to recieve and use the latest technologies.
i used to love vlc... it could play anything. but then i found a few movies it couldn't play. someone reccomended media player classic. not only does it play the stuff vlc can't, but it runs faster and better, as well as giving the coveted controls at the bottom of the screen while in fullscreen mode. the new version of vlc gave me a few errors, and despite what he said, there were no fullscreen controls. so i promptly uninstalled vlc. media player classic

I'm totally behind these guys. There's no way I'd shell out these kinda of big bucks just to have my drivers not work.
