It's all about HTML. Think of how easy navigating the web is for newbies, at least compared to finding files on the HDD. Your brain is organized as multiple redundant links. The solution is to have many ways at getting to a file. THe structure is simple. Outlining the process about the Spears CD, House->Car->ArmRest->Sexpot. Easy because it's familiar. You can visualize every step. Who here has a good way to visualize surfing the web? Any new GUI has to be relational, instead of a tree structure. We can't afford to get lost on our computer, and HTML is easy to search and catalog. When moving around in the world, you don't go to the store and then home and then to the gas station and then home and then to the bank. You run all your errands at once and then go home when you're done. We must kill the trees!
If you look at the latest list of the world's fastest supercomputers, you'll notice that govt. labs have most of them. And those are just the one that are declassified. I don't think that U.S. weapons labs buy cheap Beowulf clusters when they have tax dollars to spend.
I do research in astronomy and astrophysics, and Beowulf clusters are common throughout my field. Many international collaborations happen on the same cluster, so it's too late for export restrictions. And are we supposed to take all those Beowulf HOWTOs off the web?
Let's put export restrictions on our politicians -- no more expensive trips to Africa, China, and wherever else their daughters want to go.
I was just laughing at the guy the other day who posted the comment about forgetting which story he was replying to. Well, this comment should be over in the Wavelan story. (If I still remember.)
end to all this surprise? Every story like this on/. is always, "Whoa, look. So and so is providing linux drivers." At what point are we going to stop being suprised and expect linux drivers in the same way we expect Windows drivers? Just a question...
Finally! Why did it take someone who isn't an American to finally hit the real point in US politics. The reason a lot of you don't line up with the candidates so well is because they are espousing the views of the corporations, not just their own. If we geeks really want no regulation on the internet, then we should vote for the people that are consistently anti-big govt. That would be the Republicans. Some of the views of the GOP are a little wacky, but at least they won't be up in Washington making laws to restrict our freedoms. We should follow Minnesota's (I think) lead and mandate that every third year, the politicians should only be able to repeal laws. --Mustermark

Arrow is a good program that is worth a look.
Excuse me? This is not flamebait. This is my actual login prompt. You people have no sense of humor.
