  1. Re:fr0sty piss on Is Anyone Using the Google Web Toolkit? · · Score: 1

I'm a java guy who tried GWT and I got disappointed when tried to integrate to my current IDE, the eclipse project creator is so narrowed that I couldn't work it around easily. The winner lang-framework will be something very similar to GWT. Imagine use swing directly in the browser without all the jvm load and plugins, etc. Today with javafx, air and silverlight they are trying to do that. Something standard and open will come up, but thanks to companies like google who research and releases products like gwt that objective is nearest each day.

Few years ago we decided develop complex js apps and maybe for the lack of knowledge we pointed to work for the most popular browser. Today I love firefox, but is too expensive re-write the apps. Nobody here will do that for a long time.

  3. Accustomed to that on How Can We Convert the US to the Metric System? · · Score: 1

You are not racing the with the sheriff's horse right now because the international standard is metric units. Is really hard change your daily measurement units. It's HARD. When I moved to US I found no decimal relation between foot, yard, mile, that drove me crazy for a few months. While in metric you have a decimal relation between mm, cm, m, km, etc. in weight, length and volume. Is it easiest ? maybe, but the change would be really hard for all of you. About DPI, points in fonts, etc.. US made the standard because they are pioneers on technology and seems something difficult to change. I really don't imagine a font of 0.07 cm. Some things should change... somethings should not.
