Linux really needs a simple, standard, works all around, way to install (or uninstall) any Application or Driver. I think this is what is truly holding back Linux from becoming a mainstream OS like Windows or OSX.
Of course better graphics diver support would be awesome, but thats technically not Linux specific and a lot of things would have to change for this to happen.
And a business/enterprise standardized method for management that would allow hundreds of computers to be simple and effectively updated, backed up, etc. I know there are some solutions out there but one that would work not matter what would be perfect.
I guess all Linux needs is a little standardization for it to really take off. Right now, its the tweaker's dream, configurable in so many ways your head spins. The mass public is looking for something that is simple and recognizable. Something sadly less configurable. Someone push Linux in this direction and Microsoft and Apple won't have a chance.
Just FYI, although it would be nice to have a decent, simple, easy to use native client side language, it would be a security NIGHTMARE. Just think of poor Myspace:-P. They disable javascript and are still (excuse my french) fucked...
Safari for Windows is excuse my french, Fucked...
Horribly blurred fonts, Makes Gmail look terrible, Rendering everything weird, as a web developer I'm scared. Its hard enough making websites look good on Firefox, IE and Opera, but if I have to figure out how to do the same on Safari too, I think I'll give up.
If this boat is going to float it needs an update... bad. Its pretty, but functionality is just as important, thats why I use Firefox.
Has anyone even used Office 2007? It's really awesome... I wouldn't go back to Office 2003 after using 2007. Everything has been simplified and I find myself much more productive. It seems like everyone automatically assumes Office 2007 sucks, when in reality its a really solid piece of software. Science and Nature need to get a grip. I installed compatibility packs on my systems that don't have 2007 and they can open the new formats just fine. There is no need to upgrade, just download and install a free patch...
Oh and to you Mac lover above, I didn't spend thousands to upgrade, I received Office 2007 free from Microsoft as part of their "Power Together" campaign. I want to see Apple send you the newest version of iWhatever for free... They charge you for driver updates so you can take advantage of the pre-n cards in your MacBooks... I don't get Mac lovers, if you hate M$ so why not just jump ship altogether and go Linux? Why choose another flawed company with a pretty name?
Wow... I've been using web search history for quite a while and have found it very useful on multiple occasions. I thought it was a little privacy infringing but still useful when you forgot to bookmark something useful. However, I think tracking EVERY website I visit is overkill. Talk about NO privacy and what happens when the RIAA or MPAA subpoenas my or another users data?!?! Talk about a freaking nightmare. I suggest we all boycott. Its a terrible idea that infringes upon all Internet users privacy. It opens the door for massive litigation and will cause most everyone to hate the big G...

I looked around a bit and found a paper that shows up to 73% increase of productivity for people who use large (30"+) screens. Two small (17"+) screens are equal to one large one at the fraction of the price right? Here is the paper http://research.microsoft.com/users/marycz/Interac t2003productivityfinal.pdf. Good Luck!
Isn't 4GB of RAM the maximum addressable memory for 32 bit processors? So on that tangent, is the sweet spot for 64 bit processors 128 GB RAM? Damn I need to get a job then...
I will not surprised if AMD dethrones Intel again. It is a classical Intel vs. AMD battle...
Intel comes up with some hair-brained scheme that "More is better!". (like Viagra) They design something new and decide to make it faster (or in this case just glue more of them together). Back in the day it was the "GHz" now it's all about how many "Cores" you got. This tactic seems to suit Intel quite well and dethrones AMD for about a year and a half... During this time AMD massively redesigns there chips to integrate new, emerging technologies. The gamers and server operators of the world sit by their AMD chips knowing that they might not have the fastest chips for the time being but they are more technologically advanced.
Intel keeps cranking out their "Viagra" chips that become hotter and bigger energy hogs. When they finally come to the realization that their product SUCKS (as with the P4's) AMD is already a step ahead and swiftly takes the market back with their chips, that have always be a step ahead technologically. Intel scrambles, does a redesign, fails, tries again and history repeats. Intel's "Viagra" mentality causes their chips to be more expensive while AMD's "slow and steady wins the race" mentality allows them to keep their prices down.

I find it somewhat ironic that there are Google Adwords Ads all over this "new open source coded" search engine... I mean don't they aim to take Google down?
This sounds just about right... Classically Microsoft... I mean I wouldn't be surprised if they took open source code, relabeled it and then patented it...

My 2 cents....
