I think special mention should be given to Ext JS library
It provides clean fully implemented widgets and it also supports integration
with jquery and other libraries. I have not found I library that competes with Ext JS and continues being Open Source

I think they are not considering MySQL as competitor yet, but maybe PostgreSQL is.
