Vista still have issues with display drivers and sound card drivers (mainly that they aren't optimized for vista yet). Especially the X-fi Soundblaster driver for vista 32 from creative, it hogs up to 20% cpu usage just by playing music. So unless the company fixes these problems before Jan 30th, gaming experience on vista will be much worse than in XP.
it reminds me the time when XP first came out, and how it sucked at gaming back then compared to windows 98, although Microsoft is trying to focus more about this issue this time around, I think we'll still see the same trend now to some degree.

It is rare but there are 19inch monitors that can do 1680 x 1050. check asus VW198S. Good luck
