This attack is probably very real and interesting research, but you have to ask yourself who are you protecting yourself from. A stolen computer with an boot password protected, encrypted hard drive will be formatted long before it hits the streets and that will be the end of it.
If you are concerned about government agencies reading your encrypted files, there so many other way to get to it... Especially if you have access to the hardware. Old school ICE (in circuit emulation) will give you 100% reliability and defeats Bitlocker/TPM.
Password protect your encrypted drive and move on...
