Harry Browne is a complete space cadet. I listened to him interviewed for half an hour on the radio, and he could not name ONE hollywood actor/actress that he liked, or one TV show. He also couldn't name the state capital of several states that were asked of him. He may have some interesting views, however I dont think he has the charisma or smarts to run this country.
Actually, in this case I believe the correct term should be slander, which _is_ illegal. Lying isn't illegal until it damages a person's or company's character or reputation.
This is libel not slander. Slander is oral defamation, while libel is defamation in a permanent form. And you can be sued for libel even if it doesnt damage a person's character or reputation.
Well, right now we are creating superbacteria immune to almost any treatment we can give them. Ironically, soon these superbacteria will be creating superhumans, immune to almost any superbacteria. Of course, in the process 99% of humanity might be wiped out.
