I'm a Perl programmer, and I can gaurantee that I could design a secure voting system. It would center around a gpg encrypted database of each voter's selections, and a gpg -encrypted ascii-amored printout receipt given to each voter. The voter, at any time, could go online, and verify if his vote was recorded correctly. Random samples would be verified, and a multiple redundant local harddrive system, in addition to a network drive, (which would all have to match) would provide veracity of the precincts.
The REAL problem, is that the ruling elite does not want fair elections,
so they put on this "dog and pony show" with Diebold to pull the wool over the American public's eyes. Think about what would happen with fair elections, when (in less than 5 years), hordes of poor immigrants will outnumber the middle-class and the upper class. Viva Chavez...... that's what will happen. So we can expect the next elections to be rigged...... they will make it look good, all the pundits will explain it away, like the 2 recent fraudulent Bush(I mean Cheney) victories.
Clearly they lost, there was precinct fraud everywhere....but somehow they won.
