Question (I am putting together a web server myself): What are the specs of the machine? What server (Apache)? What dynamic content language (Perl? PHP?)
What if the proxy server were to recognize ads going through (by typical GIF size, by URL, whatever), strip them out, and replace them with ads provided by the proxy server.
What if @Home could remove the ads on web pages and replace them with other ads?
On the other hand, forget you read this, I am off to write a business plan and find some VCs...;-)
... over time, a greater and greater percentage of the web, particularly many of the interesting parts (/.) are dynamically generated - thus making caching much less useful over time.
Caching also means that the main site does not get a valid hit count - which inhibits the sale of advertising.
How about support for ACLs? That the other major weakness in the current Linux file system... the UNIX file permission system is extremely limited compared to NTFS or the Netware file system in this way.
Keep the Aeron. I do have one, and love it. After I sat in one while visiting a company where that is all they use (!), I bought one right away.
It does not "cost" per se; rather, you have to deposit at least $1000 in your account there.
(Which makes sense... why would anyone want a brokerage account with no money in it?)
None of that amount is a fee, it is money in an account. You can close your account next week and get your $1000 back.
I don't know how they define who is allowed in, but if I were offered Redhat IPO shares at the IPO price, I would buy some.

Get in to digital video editing. it's not all that new, and it will use up your 11G drive very, very quickly.
200Gig is a heck of a lot of MP3 or Word files, but it's really not all that much video.
