Uh, can we get that one moderated up to 6?
    How about 23x10^10?

basically, i think .@. has some good points; the comment to come up first was someone else's valid, but not as pertinent, commentary on nuking DNS or something...

Though it is worthwhile by its own right, what this guy had to say was perhaps not as valuable to the community as these "Several points," just above...

    it's really worth a look.

ta in advance for not spamming the fsck out of me for the above heresy :)

  5. Oh, Gods, no! on Live Action 'The Tick' Pilot · · Score: 1

This could very well be the most horrible thing to happen to TV entertainment since MTV...

Apparently, the producer is affiliated with Disney. This doesn't bode well... The megalo-corp. that took Victor Hugo's great story of the cruelty of human society and the rejection of Those Who Are Different (a subject i would think we _all_ would be sensitive to) and made it into a fucking musical cartoon, complete with singing inanimatia! A MUSICAL? wtf...

These guys could screw up a wet dream, and Edlund is gonna let them take my beloved Tick, _my_ Tick? (i've been a reader since the first issue, and even the spin-offs... french bread! ha! i love it!)

i just don't know what to think about this...
...could be really disastrous...if anyone has evidence that i am being too hasty, please, i beg of you, correct me.

Oh, BTW, the article didn't even seen to ACK the dead-tree-pulp origins of the Tick. And, yes, i know, 'inanimatia' is not a word... :P

i do not believe that this theorey is entirely new stuff. not to say it is not cool, it most definetly is...

check out Frijtof (sp??) Capra's "The Tao of Physics" (if you don't know, and you wanna seem cool and knowledgeable, it's pronounced "DAO" ... whatever ... )
"Tao of Physics" was written in 1975-ish (i believe) and its underlying theory is that there is a narrowing of the rift between Eastern (and no, i don't mean Cambridge, MA) Mysticism/Religon and modern Physics.

One of the sources Capra quoted talks of a tower with many rooms, each room containing many towers exactly like the first, on and on and on, like two facing mirrors... the mansion metaphor struck me as being remarkably similar.

anyway, this is pretty cool stuff, although the article didn't go into as much depth as i would have liked to see... *sigh*
