Has everyone out there actually read the source for the linux kernel? I walk with my hat in hand to anyone that can decipher it.

kernel upgrades are my life. I love the fact that I can change some of the features of my OS by just downloading a tarball or two. Compiling the source. And taaa-daaaa, I have an upgraded OS. Doesn't M$suck charge for this type of thing? Downtime is not even a factor. About the only downtime that I have is when I am rebooting my system to start using the new kernel. M$suck takes forever to install. Not to mention the fact that your system has to be offline and most of the time unusable.

    IMHO

I too live in Pittsburgh and understand what is being said. I am contantly looking for new oppurtunities. However I find that when something comes along that is new and exciting, the company either leaves town or is bought by some bigger company that does not want to expand. This is why I look elsewhere.

the documentation sometimes causes more confusion than it resolves. There are times that one needs to access the experience and knowledge of people who have possibly gone thru the same experience. Giving answer of RTFM without actually considering the situation of the requestor is just rude.
