No I am sorry you didn't need to point out the sarcasm, if someone is dumb enough not to notice let them look so.
The pot would of course be you and the kettle the previous poster, no not in reference to your spelling error but in reference to you pointing out a spelling error when you use the term (NOT!) which is just sad. So it is very relevant and the whole f#%$ing point of it

Multivac is used in many many many of Asimov's stories the author above was mentioning a different one from The Last Question . If I remember correctly he was quoting All the Troubles of the World Anyway I thought you should know what you said is just one way Asimov explains Multivac. Enjoy
Thats it I am so annoyed now, the previous post gets moderated up to 4, insightful and this nothing. All I got to say is I laughed my Asmp off, literally. Thanks for the good laugh AC.
So parents shouldn't allow kids to browse the net unattended? what kind of question is this? of course parents shouldn't allow children, of young age, to browse the web alone, the same should be applied to television, however do we ever see any of these ideas about being intrested in what your child does and supervising them, hell no. Your question is the same as asking should we let young children swim alone? harm to a child physically or psychologically is still harm, regardless if they see porn or if they drown, both will have profound affects upon them.
seems to me this would suggest a word that is three letters, except the center letter is change, anyone know of three letter words were the center letter changes and still makes sense?
Well AMD has been around for quite some time now but yes this is all applied toward recent events, I just stated that because the original poster left the impression that AMD has always been able to keep up with Intel which is not true.
I agree AMD is "kicking ass" as you put it and from some of my earlier post on this subject I have said I am thinking to go AMD, however I am also seriously conisdering alternatives to both these companies.
You hit the point I was trying to make exactly, Intel and AMD can't meet the demand of the market, Intel and AMD within the last year have pulled some relatively same crap, therefore we should focus on other third parites is what I was trying to get across. If this site is suppose to be part of the cream of the crop when it comes to tech savy, then why are they so focused on AMD? AMD is the same company as Intel, the best example would be both have pulled the same production crap. Announce K6 can't produce K6, announce PIII 800 cant produce PIII 800, if you announce a product you should be able to produce a relatively large amount of them, neither of them did it in this case, therefore from my view plus lots of other crap I have had to waid through with both these companies I say screw them they are both apples, I hope now I have made myself clear.
As for Tom's Hardware look at the articles, read the titles, super duper expensive rdram? what kind of crap is that, expensive would have been sufficient to get the point across, its the same as Zdnet and Intel, the Willamete(sorry if I mispelled) the AMD basher, what bs.
As for the previous two comments about Tom not being American, troll on fellas, troll on.
I hope you mean recently Intel hasn't been able to mass produce or leapfrog AMD cause if you don't then you need to read about what has happened in these two companies for the last 10 years.
Second a comment on AMD's ability to produce what they say they can: Yes AMD's reliability at production has been twofold, they have never had problems, lets think about this one, last Sept. AMD could hand make the chips faster than their manufacturing plants could, note: this was before the plant in Dresden, but like all others who Cry "Love AMD" you are forgetting AMD has pulled the same crap Intel is right now. On a side note, read AMD's own fourth quarter earnings statement, AMD doesn't expect to meet the demand for their chips, meaning they can't produce them fast enough either, intresting isn't it?
Tom's Hardware is very pro-AMD, American tradition is to want he underdog to win. Intel has a long time before they will be dying, I doubt they will have to worry about any of your comments at the moment, which I fully agree with. However as one/.'er put it you are not comparing oranges and apples here, AMD and Intel are apples and apples, lets start looking to real/small companies who are trying to change the future of cpu technology/architecture.
Yes their Dresden facility is working out well for them, but as in any processor they won't be able to produce enough to supply the demand, which you can read at AMD's own webise, heres a tibid from their financial report for the fourth quarter:
"AMD projects that Memory Group sales will more than double compared to the first quarter of 1999 and will grow by 10 percent sequentially. Demand is expected to continue to exceed supply."
Which if you read any information from suppliers of pc's you would find that this is true. AMD's past producitons have been plagued with problems, and for those who say you don't look at the past performance of a company, that is complete bs, you don't base your opinion on a company and their products only on today you look at past performance and reliability and determine from their, its the same as if you were going to invest in them or if you were going to buy a product you buy based upon the company, its past, and the current product. example: you are buying a car: choice A a company who has been prone with problems but has this new car out, choice B a company who has a track record for making reliable products also with a new car, which one would you buy? thats a tough one. This comparison is in no way releative to AMD and Intel just refuting the argument that you don't look at the past because you always do, however in Intel and AMD's case the situation is very different then from my example.
My final question is were was the outcry when AMD was having all its production problems, sorry if my statement earlier was vague when I said problems I was referring to current lack of ability to meet the demand, and don't give me that bs, what problems? because it was just last year that they were having major problems, Nov. ppl. note: I never said I wasn't going to buy an AMD chip or was anti-AMD in fact I am thinking about buying one however everyone stop being sheep, be a think geek.
I agree, however AMD is and has been just as stupid as Intel, everyone seems to forget the problems AMD has had and is having with the manufacturering of their chips too, its as if people are saying "ohhh its ok AMD we understand, Intel you suck you can't even produce a chip you said you were."
on a second note just look at the last 30 replies on this topic, all have been Intel sucks, AMD is the best, or some reply along those lines, what kind of mentality is that? Regardless of what anyone wants to believe having bragging rights is a big deal, remember the US vs Russia space race, it just sickens me to see so many people/sheep following a company like AMD who is just as "stupid" as Intel.
Well considering the Anti-Intel sentiment at this site, all one can say is let the bashing begin, I mean after all AMD is so much better, right.
Really though its quite sad how anti-Intel everyone is, I mean the reason why Intel became Intel was because of its reliability and performance, this is not to say that today Intel doesn't sing a different tune, but still everytime I read about something that Intel is doing to push the enevelope in CPU technology people just bash it away as if its already been done or there is something better coming around the corner, which is always true, but regardless if the industry didn't have Intel who knows what could of happened, some would argue that another manufacturer would of just taken control of the market and, rightly so, but the history of Intel is very impressive and their ability to stay as one of the top manufacturers of chips is rather astounding, and yes I would like to recognize the fact that they have used some Microsoftesque tatics to stay in that lead, but the credit that has been given to them is rather pathetic people will critique Intel for anything that they do, the point I am trying to make is that I am sick of the same post of people just flaming Intel, if your going to flame them I suppose make it original ok;), not ohh well AMD is blah blah, or ohh big deal I did that yesterday crap that I keep on reading repetively by people. Think Original, Think Spam, as in the actual Spam.
First you are assuming "we" live in a state that doesn't have sales tax, I however do not have that luxury and pay through the nose
Second you still are not adding everything up, example everytime you fly you are getting taxed by the government, another example everytime you buy cigarattes=tax, stop thinking only your damn IRS papers every year and start thinking about the big picture=everything(including many things you don't even realize). Another great example is gasoline, yes there is a tax that is on it, set by the federal government which everyone pays. Once you add up all the stupid taxes it easily reaches 50%, esp. in those states who have insane sales tax, like California.
University of California San Diego can be added to that list, however I earlier stated that my school is making an effort to fix this problem. They are actually increasing bandwidth and said they are going to allow Napster's use next year, guess we will just have to wait and see.
I agree however the money from these taxes that the government ueses is extremely wasteful, and I don't mean our supposed "gigantic military machinery," which sadly if you know anyone in the military you would know has been cut, relative to GDP increse, to such a point that many of our machinery is sitting in a desert in Nevada and Arizona being completely wasted, a.k.a not even being refurbished to be reused, just sitting.
Yes I would like to get rid of the current tax system, why should I work and have 50%+ of my salary taxed by the government, s*** I mine as well go on welfare. I mean really though its sad when someone works a 10 hour shift and half of that is being used to pay for a government that waste our money as much as ours does.
don't believe me about the 50% hey, add this up, which I have:
state+local+federal+sales+property+etc..(little taxes which I don't know from offhand)= 50%+, some it may be slightly lower but in general middle class America is getting screwed, literally. I do however agree with your point that we do need taxes, what form can be debated, but your comment about or military or understanding why we are aggitated is slightly skewed.
Napster was banned at my school but so many ppl complained that they are going to increase bandwidth so that next year it will be allowed to be used again, who said all schools are evil tyrants, just most I suppose.
Well I finally manage to get there, the problem is this isn't a small little report lots of pdf files small in size but seperated, anyway it took me forever and I still haven't accessed an actually document yet, I just got to the links to the actually report, past the main page. explain this to me real quick: the number of visitors on the site is said to only be 2028 yet they are having this many problems with their servers? Why? anyone have an idea, anyway if I can actually access some of the info I will try to mirror it so you can all read it, yay!
exactly it has never been used successfully until now, which was in the link you gave us thank you. ": The ion propulsion system on Deep Space 1 is the culmination of over 50 years of development on electric engine systems in space. Launched on Oct. 24, 1998, Deep Space 1 will be the first spacecraft to actually use ion propulsion to reach another planetary body."
Ever wonder how Chinese missle technology advanced in 10 years within a relative timespan of 2. Its quite simple its called USA selling the Tech. to them, well not USA but our gracious and brillant President. So if anything I would contribute this rumor at the moment to a brainchild of our own tech. advancements, besides recently we just lauched a ion propulsion probe, last time I checked this wasn't a 70's tech. development.
Very nice, Zinsser says "Be clear and concise."
