Oaks have male and female plants that use airborn pollenation techniques, but they will self pollenate or clone themselves if needed. I would look at chemicals or precipitation before looking at bees.

(for the Christers: perhaps God told the trees their children are no longer needed(/sarcasm))

I have heard reports in the past of hungry packs of squirrels attacking and eating cats and small dogs. I wonder if those reports will increase this winter.

I see a lot of replies to this AC post crying "Foul, he mentioned religion"

Take a look around you at the rest of the world outside your basement. The majority of the world is religious and follows those "bronze age mythologies" as truth, regardless of what we think of them.

If they are going to use their religion against us, and try to cram it down our throats, the smartest move would be to learn to use it back, both to defend, and protect our beliefs and rights.

I feel it is a right for me to eat meat. No one should have the ability to remove that right from me. If I have to use their own holy books against them, so be it. Get past your own idiology and mental restrictions to look at the place everything has in this world, and listen fairly and with an open mind or you will NEVER rise above their level.

Where I live(NOVA), they already have. I spent 5 minutes arguing over what I ordered with the guy in the drive thru only to realize that (in his almost passable version of English) we were both reciting the items correctly. At that point, I apologized and told him to cancel the order, my rational being that if his friends thought I was just being difficult, I would get "extra" condiments on the burgers.(just see "Waiting" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348333/)

    GEEK SQUAD

Those inept bumbling dangerous fools make the rest of us in the IT field look bad.

When people hear I am a Sys Admin, I often hear "Oh like the geek squad" or "Oh, so you are who I would go see for computer trouble". I used to get offended, but now my standard response (said with a smile) is, "Yes, and I charge an upfront consultation fee of $100, this gets you 30 minutes of my time, I then revert to $100 an hour billed in 1 hour increments. What were you having trouble with?" For most issues, I tell them it is cheaper for them to go see the dorks at best buy. I know it comes across as a little condecending, but I find I have much more spare time when I am not giving out advice or servicing customers pro-bono. In the last few months, I have had several people take me up on my offer and have made over a grand fixing messes the FireDorks(Circuit City) or Geek Squad left behind.

    (1 miles = 1609 (and some change) meters / 60 = 268.17 meters per minute.

  18. Re:!#@%! Metric on The Trap Set By the FBI For Half Life 2 Hacker · · Score: 1

I think you math might need checking...
According to google 1mph is 2688 furlongs per fortnight. So a furlong per fortnight is pretty damn slow.
    and
Of course it's slow. A fortnight is 14 days, and a furlong is 1/8th of a mile. Going some 200 meters in 14 days is slow.

so if a furlong is 1/8 mile we can divide the # of furlongs by 8 to get the miles, right?

so that is 2688/8 or 336 miles per fortnight or 24 miles a day.

Sure seems a hell of a lot faster than 14.286 Meters per day.

but IANAM, so I may be wrong.
