No, you are wrong. If you were to say you didn't like rainbows, people might take that as an anti-gay statement.
So, only gummi bears is a safe topic for discussion
Really? And your point would be?
You know that 0 out 100 people I meet in the USA when I
go to the store are carrying guns. (Excepting the occasional
policeman that they've hired.)
Based on what we are hearing about Penryn and the fact that they are displaying early versions to people already I think Penryn will still win out. It's going to keep up the low power usage while making certain applications like encoding/decoding MUCH faster. It is still sounding like AMD will be about 6 months behind Intel's release schedule. So AMD would probably be best to aim for a smaller but more profitable market.
I'm sure the cards are much faster than my current card. That's because my current card is a TI 4200 so just about any new card will be faster.;) At least a few companies are supposed to be releasing some of these models in AGP forms so I may upgrade to one of them.
Except for the fact that cows have been around for a long time. Now some breeds wouldn't stay the same without humans keeping the strains pure but cows would continue on. Consider the Brahma that's been around for ages. Many of the things you see around now from grass to fruit/nut trees to vegetables to dogs and cats wouldn't stay the same if not for humanity's efforts to keep the various strains alive. That's part of our big advantage over the animals in our ability to manipulate our environment to our benefit.
I can't even say that they've failed since they provide the hooks for extensions. So you can do just about anything you want if you get the right extension. I know I've been running NoScript and FlashBlock for as long as I can remember (other programs before those extensions came out) so I don't have to worry about downloading all the flash animation or the javascript attacks. I do think the memory issue is getting out of hand. Part of that is that Firefox doesn't do a good job reclaiming memory when you leave a web page, but that seems to be an issue throughout the programming world. It doesn't help that so many web pages go crazy with images and animation.
Not really, and anyone that has used Bittorrent for anything would know this. If I took the time to put all of my CDs on my HD (and with the right ripping program I think it's just a matter of swapping CDs) I would easily have that many. Putting those files online is a trivial effort once I have them on the HD. Then I could just leave the files sitting there with the BT program running in the background while I listen to them as I study or do homework. I'm sure many students have put their collections of legally bought CDs on the HD since many of them have MP3 players and it's easy to transfer them from the HD to the MP3 player.
Now I can see why RIAA or anyone in the music industry can have an issue with someone putting over 700 songs on the net, but we should keep in mind that it's easy to do and the devices we have today encourage people to put their songs on their HD. From that point it's not surprising that some take the next step of making them available to thier friends on the net (and yes, to anyone else that can find the torrent.)
Of course it's crap. It was a decision made by accountants. They saw the number of viewers that YouTube was getting, and they may even have some preliminary numbers for the TV shows that have ended up on YouTube and they wanted that money for themselves. They think if they set up a site with TV shows they will pull in the viewers and get all of the money for themselves. It might be by using ads or perhaps they want to use the site to sell DVDs and new episodes to viewers that check out the site (instead of or in addition to something like Itunes.)
You think any other industry is different? Certainly not the fashion industry. Well maybe, but only because most of the men in that industry tend to be gay. Not any blue collar industry as that one has been turned into a stereotype with the wolf whistles as a pretty woman walks by. It isn't right, but I know that tends to be a quite common response.
Yes, but the people that are experiencing problems are the ones that will complain loudly. if there are enough (and there seem to be) then those complaints get noticed. I've been through this before with other drivers like some of Nvidia's drivers. It's one reason I try to wait on bug fixes till after they have been out for a few weeks to see if any issues crop. The only problem is sometimes that isn't possible like when major security holes are found.
Is it a violation? There's a fair use law (I think that's the one) that lets people use a small portion a copyrighted piece. Aslo she chose the one peice that should never have been an issue. I don't know why she posted it but given her background it might have had to do with a copyright discussion in which case it gets back to the Fair Use (or whatever it's called) law. She's certainly one that would be likely to know what laws make it okay to post that VERY small portion of the typical game broadcast.

The MSFT people are smart enough that they may catch stuff that other people don't. Plus they have a huge install so they will hear of problems long before anyone running Wine or ReactOS would.
That said, I do think it's a good thing if it works as well as they said (eventually) and the source is out there for perusal. Some people will end up using it to try and find new holes to attack, but a lot of people will also find problems. So after a few years it could be much more secure than XP. Plus we all know that Microsoft will drop support for XP as soon as they can get people moved to Vista. It's going to take a while due to the hardware requirements of Vista but it will happen. With ReactOS people can still keeping going with XP compatability as long as they want.
YEs, I could and it would be illegal if I did it. It was illegal for the agents to do it too, when they didn't get a subpoena. So it seems like they should be penalized just like every other citizen would be if they did this.
Heck, given that know the law and are charged with upholding it they should be held to a higher standard. If it happened once it might be something that could be ignored but when it's epidemic there needs to be some major penalties on them.. Unfortunately it seems that the law only applies to those of us that aren't charged with enforcing it.
So corn goes up because of the ethanol production, but why the increase in prices for wheat and soybeans? Is it a cascade effect where more wheat and soybeans are being used in food production where corn had been used before? Or is something else going on.
I can't see a local issue keeping the prices high since soybeans are produced in many areas around the country.
Maybe the answer is to buy the Chinese CDs? That way you are buying legal copies of the CD so you are covered in that way and you don't end up giving the RIAA a lot of money.

So if the person had used the name Bill Gates everything would have been okay?
