I don't know the level of accuracy which we can track all the debris, or the accuracy which we could fire a laser at a target moving that fast. Would it be possible for us to use lasers to knock the debris out of earth's orbit?
Today's meaning of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd world countries is vastly different from the original meaning.
Originally 1st world countries were those which were democratic. 2nd world countries were communist, and everyone else fell into the 3rd world category.
Germany is the current world's superpower of solar energy, and they receive sunlight similar to Seattle. All you are doing is regurgitating misinformed info. There is plenty of sunlight in Northern US. Solar works even during overcast.
As far as EV goes millions of people have commutes to work which are less than the current capacity of battery power. Throw in the opportunity for their cars to be charging while they are working during the day, and EV become even more viable.
As of right now, it's not that we can't move towards greener energy use. It's that too many people have too much too lose / gain. Depending how you want to see it. Our president is just one of many people who profit from oil.
As far as the USA is concerned, weather is not as large a factor as it is made out to be.
Considering that Germany(the solar capital of the world) recieves roughly the same amount of sunlight as Seattle. Almost all of the USA could take advantage of solar energy.
Also the average home in the USA recieves enough sunlight on its roof to power itself for 2-3 days worth of energy consumption.
(assuming the sunlight was harnessed)
but hes talking about turning off normal calls and only allowing texting. I bet T-mobile hadn't turned off everything except test messages on NYE.

I should hope it travels to the head, thats kinda the point. (no pun intended)

Haha. Reading this reminds me of the police blowing up Aqua Teen Hunger Force lite-brite advertising around cities because the police thought there were bombs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Boston_Mooninite_scare
