The article doesn't actually provide that much insight, I think, because the experiment does not really use a realistic scenario for virtualization. It's more common to have larger servers for virtualization for many smaller, lower volume applications.
Also, FWIW, I'd like to see more experiments with the Solaris10 Container technology, which looks to me a lot more promising for server consolidation than VMWare.
