Hollywood could totally make a movie out of the epic tale that this all is, then it could get released a month before theatric release on TPB, then a month after it's out the F/OSS community could make a free version of it, then Hollywood would try to use Motion Picture Patents against the free version of the movie, the Hollywood would be destroyed by their inability to compete with a bodyless organization of minds.
There's always some dastardly evildoers trying to steal our freedoms, nowadays, isn't there.
Nowadays? Not a moment in Humanity's history was a calm silence where groups of people weren't trying to impose their will on others by penalty of death or disruption. It's a story that will long repeat itself and is unlikely to ever end.
They act like a government agency but they can only take civil action, regardless of the FBI's doting on copyright abusers. If they were to stay silent a moment too long then what little power they do bear would dissolve.
Google Cache and Google Images is a great way to get around the firewall at the college I go to. They'd have hell brought down on them if they tried to block *.google.com
There's probably an improvement but I don't sit and stare when it's booting anymore. I did a bootgraph last night and it's about 20 seconds (kernel/environment), and I made a readahead profile of my logging in. Really, until it's a 4 second boot time it won't register in my head as "Holy crap, that was fast"
I haven't found a very comprehensive list, but I've been using the beta on my Wind for weeks. The focus seems to be mostly on free video drivers, migrating to ext4, and as always, polishing up usability. There's supposed to be some big improvement on boot time, but I haven't really noticed it. Maybe I'll have to reinstall from scratch after the final release to see it.
I want to see an LPIA LiveCD, but all there is is the alternative install. With the alt installer I can't access the USB stick I install from and I can't see my hard disk.
I had so much hope. It's too bad I can't take my vote back.
It's not that it's simply a decision I don't agree with, it's an assault to impartiality and protecting civil arguments as civil arguments.
Everything about Obama was the example he set, it was all about making the US look good, inside and outside. This kind of action just tears it all down.
I'm actually impressed with Vista. It's a lot more stable now, it's fucking beautiful and some of the changes they've made really make more sense. Like how they handle 'documents and settings' and stuff like that.
Unfortunately, it's still proprietary software and I still hate Microsoft. Unix had filesystem integration right a long time ago and I can get all the eye-candy I'll eventually stop noticing with Compiz.
I dont know, I tried blender for about 30 seconds before giving up and playing around with the student editions of the big-boys stuff.
This one line summarizes your post perfectly; Based of your own experiences involving the subject, all people should see this thing the way you do.
The reason this 'big boy' stuff is 'big boy' stuff is because it's been around for so long. Improvement takes times, mistakes and solutions, new schemes to make up for the failures of the old schemes.
It is a realistic look for Linux advocates to think that it will only take time now for free software to overcome the resistance.
I've had absolutely no problems with GRUB and ext4. The reduction in boot time isn't spectacular from what I can tell, but I'm sure it isn't time to judge quite yet.
The only parts I have is root,/home and swap. I only gave root 5 gigs of space and it's still got 2 gigs free after installing all the stuff I use.
30 minutes? With how fast the internet is (There's few places in the world I get a ping reply within seconds), the internet could be taken down within 30 seconds if the perfectly right-wrong thing happened.
It'll probably happen eventually, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. It's not like the internet, you know, is a living creature that depends on every breath to survive.
I've seen some episodes of Atlantis pre-post-processing, it's an insightful view into the way they do things but it'd be hard to take the series seriously if it's all I had seen.... Not that I really did take it very seriously.
HAH HAH HAH! It's funny because it's like saying Open Source! HAH HAH HAH!

Then we could make a movie out of that!
Didn't you know? His name is Richard Muhammed Stallman, that means he must be a terrorist.
I like The Pirate Bay. I like the Free Software Foundation. Because I like both, they must be directly related to each other.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

It's so frustrating.
Slander has to be implicit, not implied.
I wasn't willing to base the entirety of his character on one decision, but now I'm starting to wonder how much FISA reflects on our future.
The basic concept of a bash shell.
The structure of a typical distribution.
Why exactly a distribution doesn't have to be typical, what makes things appear to be uniform.
The server/client model.
Elements of security.
Logic.
Doing shit yourself.
Yeah, Canonical needs to hurry up and sell it's own version of education exploitation.
You teach someone to breath your brand of air, they might be skeptical to try someone else's.

Bash taught me I don't always have to complete a sentence when I can just hit tab.
See? All I had to type there was "Bash taug(TAB) compl(TAB) just (TAB)."

That's funny, the exact reason I bought a Wind was because I don't play fancy ass games much and that's why I prefer Ubuntu...
Since it's such a bitch to refund the copy of XP that came on my Wind, I just ripped off the key sticker and sold it to my friend for $25.
By April? The first thing I did was format the hard drive on my Wind.

Probably didn't plan on keeping his job long, anyways.
That, or he cleverly set things up to get fired from this job and get hired onto another one through all that popularity it'll get him.
I shudder at the fact I must admit that, yes it is.
Its rules are proprietary, poorly documented and the legality of it is obscure.
It's inconsistent.
It steals its ideas from all the languages before it.
It's forced unknowingly on many people.
It's largely popular in the US and UK, though some of the rest of the world governments have mandated the use of alternatives inside the government.
It makes you much more interesting and useful to know something else as well.
It comes out with a new version as soon as you get used to the old version.
