I'm presently a 3rd year student and I'm tired of listening to lectures dismiss wikipedia out of hand, of course its not right for academia and should never be quoted in submitted work. However to dismiss it totally is a mistake, IMOP. Look up Beethoven, Mohamed Ali, Newtons laws of motion, Amy Winehouse or E=mc2 and what you see is fine for a general intro. But as mentioned above, you need to be judicious when reading any information from any source. Descartes may well have been correct when deducing one shouldn't believe anything you read, hear, smell, see, taste or touch, but be confident in the knowledge that you are thinking: Cogito, ergo sum.
