The fact of the matter is that if you are developing a piece of software for FREE and GIVING IT AWAY, in your OWN FREE TIME, then you can DO WHATEVER YOU WANT.
Open Source doesn't mean "Do whatever the Community says". These people do the development because they enjoy it. It's not a job, it's a hobby.
If you want something changed in a project and the devs don't want to change it then that's too bad. Maybe you should put in the time to figure it out and do it yourself. The fork is exactly what should happen if you aren't happy with the way things are going.
And if you can't code, then learn. And if you don't want to learn then quit your whining.
Now is the bit where I make all of the usual sorts of generalisations about the US, violence, fear and aggression and then pronounce how glad I am that I live a very safe distance from the aforementioned place.
I, for one, know a lot of people, who don't know alot about computers, who could very easily confuse Mozilla Firebird for the Firebird DBMS. They would see the word Firebird and assume that it was the one they were looking for. You can't tell me that you don't know anyone could do the same.
Why would people who don't know a lot about computers be using a DBMS anyway?
And (without having looked at it at all) I'm going to assume that (if it's like the majority of open source apps) it would be largely unusable to a novice user anyway.
The developers' attitude isn't important.

So you can come around and shoot me? I think not!
I won't fall for that one again.
"You're only as safe as YOU make yourself"
To repeat my previous proposition... Holy smokes!

Holy smokes! "Totally reasonable.."!!?

They generally prefer MS Access.
