My stance:
I only installed Lucid Lynx on my laptop because I'm sick of calling Microsoft and having to reactivate my legal copy of Win 7.
I love Win 7, and would prefer to run it, but after spending Time on hold with Microsoft (going so far as to speak Swedish Chef to confuse their voice recognition software), I installed linux. Been working well so far.
My question:
If ALL the corporate desktops were taken out of the picture, I wonder what the percentage of Linux to Microsoft or Apple would be.
In other words, when given the -choice-, what do people run?
Set as scheduled task with an admin acct, done and done. At least well enough for most users.... considering most never defrag at all.
Or for the Vista croud (which I assumeis thin in these here partz)
defrag c: -v -w
...and discovered that (the Latest flavors of) Firefox uses more disk space than IE. ^So what if IE uses Windows components? If I'm running Windows, that space is lost to me anyway. Firefox uses more RAM than IE (see ^). Firefox loads pages slower. Firefox slows my machine down if left running for long periods.
Um, why would I want to open up my network connection that I spend my hard-earned money on? Split the costs, and you can have all you want.

I'm sure someone here was thinking this:
*I await the shower of invective*
Please, by all means, do your own research. Bring up taskmamager or top (well, can't really compare IE there)...
I use IE at work and Opera at home. Microsoft dosen't hold the monopoly on "New isn't necessarilly better."
