I always loved doing this...I remember one time I came across a field anchor just sitting there in front of the camera, talking to the camera guy for like 30 minutes, waiting for broadcast time... You could always pick up bizarre stuff with C-band dishes...Japanese lessons, porn channels having free previews...all sorts of fun stuff. But, then DSS came out, stramgled the market, and nobody buys C-band dishes any more. (My Dad installed them for a living.) Now you can buy a friggin satelitte dish at the grocery store...makes me miss the good ol' days of digging post holes through three foot of caliche and carrying 8-foot dishes up two flights of ladders....
'Cept for all of us student types...Netscape used to only be free for academic use...
Personally,I'm waiting for the BeOS port of Opera to be ready...it's progressing a lot faster, and it'll give me a reason to reinstall Be on my hard drive...it should also give me occasion to install Be (read: not Windoze) on my Dad's computer. He can type about one and a half words a minute, and half the time his emails have the sig at the top of the message...but he loves Opera, so go figure...;)
The Gerber tool actually came out _before_ the Leatherman, IIRC. Gerber's are top quality knives, made in the US...all of my favorite knives, save one, are gerbers...
I'm glad I got up early enough to claim my copy when I got the email from The OTN...BEFORE everyone/.'ed it...;) Has anyone done much with Oracle 8 for Linux? I've got the CD, but haven't had a chance to dick with it yet...
...and NOW we have to read about how writing that account helped you make a bunch of money?
I don't see why you HAVE to read anything...as has been stated above, if you don't like Katz's posts, DON'T READ THEM. Is your life so vacuous that the only thing you have to do is peruse every post on/., even those you KNOW oyu won't like? I doubt it.
