The analysts read annual reports.
IBM 2006 Annual report states:
355766 people in IBM and 100% owned subs.
45% in America
Leaves a good 160000 IBM personnel in America.
However the report states: The U.S. at approximately 127,000 employees.
I did not see any distribution over departments, but the message is clear, there is some hick-up on the numbers.
PS: but who believes the annual reports;-)
