Naturally he means it's totally unfair that a union, with hundreds of thousands of members, can tell all those members that they think it would be really great to donate to party X.
And then all those members can go and donate up to the individual maximum, and tend to do so because they actually like their union.
Sort of like how the "Big Evil Companies(TM)" spend money on "advertising" which expresses "opinion" which unfairly brainwashes unwilling, hive-minded thralls into voting for a candidate that they really didnt want.
I mixed up currency years above, let me clarify. (2004 USD) 1950: income, ~$9000; TV: $5000. TV represents ~55% of your income. This is pretty much not doable. 2004: income, ~$32000; TV: $600. TV represents ~2% of your income. Even assuming you get a $5000 TV, you're looking at ~17% of your income
Im not sure how you're figuring that he is worse off today.
Yeah in 10 years vs the 2 years you can expect a modern TV to last but that is a different issue.
Bull. I dont know of anyone who had to replace their TV in 2 years. My sample size is limited (probably 30-50 TVs / monitors), but I know my own DLP is 8 years old at this point, and my PC monitor is 6 years old.
In the 1950's a middle class home could have that $5000 TV.
No, they couldnt, because their 1950 income was ~$2000/year.
n 2014, someone earning the median $30k/yr income CANNOT afford a $5000 TV.
Yes, he can, because rent + food + expenses should hit ~$20000 if he is frugal.
So how are you explaining the fact that-- despite the massive growth in disparity-- the middle class is comparatively richer than ever?
I mean at some point you're going to have to square up with those median incomes, which for some groups (black women) have increased 6-fold and in all cases have nearly doubled.
1) I think Census.gov is well aware of the legal circumstances around mortgages, and I got the impression from their site that they were actually NOT considering mortgages. But even if that were the case...
2) I do believe with a mortgage YOU own the house; there is simply a lien on the title, so that it is forfeit if you renege on your debt. This is similar to a car title loan; you still own the car, but you lose it if you default.
Excerpts: In 2000, 2-in-3 householders in the United States owned their own homes; in 1900, less than half owned their homes. Nationwide rate -- 1950: 55.0%; 1970: 62.9%; 1990: 64.2%; 2000: 66.2%
WHO CARES about the "1%"??? The system we have is pulling everyone up at a phenomenal range; if some people make a lot of money doing so, who, really, needs to care about that?
A 1950's TV would cost ~$495 in 1950 dollars, which is ~$5,000 in 2014 dollars. It would be 21", low resolution, not capable of HD, use a ton of electricity, and eventually the phosphors would give out causing it to have wierd colors. In 2014 you can get a 52" TV for $600.
Wrong. Just a sample of median income over time,, race, etc (in 2004 dollars) (source):
1950 -- White men: $18000; White women: $ 7000; Black men: $ 9775; Black women: $ 3150 1980 -- White men: $28939; White women: $10741; Black men: $17390; Black women: $ 9944 2004 -- White men: $31335; White women: $17648; Black men: $22740; Black women: $18379
Not only has (inflation adjusted) median-- not mean! -- income risen, it looks to my casual eye like the disparity has massively dropped. It went from a 3:1 ratio for black men to women to 1.25:1; between blacks and whites it went from ~2:1 to ~1.5:1.
If you were to look at education over the past 100 years you would see the same trend. Im not sure where people are getting these "facts" about the dismantled middle class but theyre terribly wrong. All of this talk about class warfare can only be made by one completely oblivious to reality and history.
We are at the point where a computer can read a novel and spit out a high school book report that would both fool and impress most english teachers, and it can do it in seconds not days
Calling complete BS on this; if it were true, there would be no reason for sites where folks write reports for others for a buck. Writing an actual report requires a good deal of interpretation and literary analysis that computers just cant do.
If you have a source, thatd be one thing, but otherwise...
Either you've only ever tried applets you hacked together yourself...By the way; who uses applets any more?
* Any Cisco web interface (generally REQUIRE official java 1.4.2
* Dell's iDRAC
* Assuming HP's iLO
* Xerox EFI configuration interface
Actually, really any of the "enterprise" applets seem to have this issue-- they have the commonality that they are all terribly written and require ancient versions of official JRE.
It is not as simple as that. I dont recall the exact issue (i think its really wonky/bad intellisense), but suffice it to say you're far better off using Powershell ISE, PowerGUI, or Powershell Studio.
Either way, the idea that you even need an IDE for Powershell is as dumb as claiming that bash requires the use of Eclipse.
PS is worthless because, in order to do anything useful, you need to fire up visual studio.
Yea, thats basically entirely false. I use it every day in managing a network, including our storage and printing infrastructure. I do 50% of my work in the console, 30% in notepad++, and 20% in an IDE like PowerGUI or Powershell ISE.
Visual studio doesnt even work with Powershell-- Im not sure where you're getting your info, but its terribly incorrect.
Im not sure you understand how commercial software works. Theres no technical reason that the features in any particular software, version n+1, couldnt be backported-- except for the fact that a lot of the time the whole point is that new features require additional work and additional funding.
And for the record, Powershell 4 actually IS backported to Win7... not sure about Powershell 5, as its still in RC.
No one needs Adobe Reader...There's tons of alternative PDF viewers you can use.
A lot of them lack features that Adobe Reader has. You're right that Adobe makes awful software, but again: in reality, people actually use it, and its sort of irrelevant to go on about how they dont actually need to.
OpenJDK hasnt worked with any applet I've ever tried.
QoS also needs DPI. The difference is whether we are doing prioritization based on source, or based on application.
Honestly, QoS probably requires more advanced kit than NetNeutrality, since QoS requires digging deeper (higher up) into the OSI layer.
Here's the difference, in two sentences:
QoS is about prioritizing and filtering traffic based on type .
Net Neutrality is about prioritizing and filtering traffic based on source .
You could possibly say that QoS is layer 4-7 (port, application, transport) while Net Neutrality is layer 3 (address).
Your groceries are going up roughly in line with inflation, at least over the last 10 years or so.
Gas is an entirely different animal, and cant really be brought into a discussion on US economics.
TIL: Supply and demand is a "problem" that needs to be "solved".

Median incomes listed are per person, not per household-- hence the inclusion of gender data.
Except that half of my post was demonstrating a DECREASING disparity.
Hows that for "hidden inflation"?
Wrong.

This guy is.

Wait what Mercedes do you know that weigh 10 tons? Have they begun competing with Mack trucks?
IT techs of whatever sort dont tend to be minimum wage, and the new hireds generally arent trusted with access to the sensitive stuff.
Not sure why people feel the need to post about how the system works when they have no clue.

You CAN do AD stuff without the AD cmdlets, but it ends up being sort of like VBS. Generally you will need RSAT.
Simple solution would be to deploy it with GPO.
