Ya know, it's funny that the two issues that the OP brought up, CS4 and Audio recording programs, both work fine on my Win7 machine. My copy of CS4 runs perfectly, even if it's not exactly "legit". Also, when using Audacity to record streaming audio, I haven't noticed any loss of sound quality at all. Hey, OP...maybe it's not DRM, maybe it's your machine.
Well, I've been using every build since 6801 as my main OS, and the only major bug that I've found was the mp3 corruption bug. When a product is this stable going into the first beta, I don't see a point for a second beta. Also, the fact that there are millions of people using Windows 7 right now means that any "showstopper" bugs will be found and fixed by the first RC. Nice job by Microsoft.
"Multiple AV products"?
More often than not, that is going to cause all kinds of issues. If Apple is recommending virus protection, they should also recommend a specific one or two, instead of having some of their users install 2 or more AV clients, which could totally bork their machine.
$4K for a crappy laptop with "armor"? These guys must be on crack. Dude, I'm so not getting a Dell.

Kurt Cobain may not have sang pitch perfect, but at least you could feel the honesty and passion in his voice.
