Sounds like this device may actually work. And for thoes who don't understand the difference between this and other head mounted displays...
This one actually shoots light into your eyes, being as you are having a hard time seeing already (ie there is not enought light bouncing off of objects already for you.) this can add an increased amount of light focused directly into your eye. You have to wonder if this is going to destroy your eyes that much faster?
An example, a hearing aid works like a little amplifier sitting in or hanging on your ear increasing sound levels for the wearer. A stereo has similar function, but simply broadcasts sound for a room.
Conventional displays from Blue Tooth etc, allow your eye to function as normal and view the reflected light from the display (not targeted at anything in particular.)
Not sure about the actual hardware, but the developer version (available free at the WebTV developer site) just leaves stuff like Flash Movies empty or more specificaly, a gray box. Oh and a caviat, it doesn't like Pop-up windows or many of the other *features* of the web.
It's stuff like this that makes me happy that we have (although biased) a free press that although it may be unpopular, we can talk freely about things, and that in these days of electoral re-counts and court mandates, that we the people still have some say in what we can or cannot do.
We should take a moment and respectfully remember the rights that the framers of the U.S. Constitution put in place for us.
I know when I get rolling on a project I can go for hours, so why not take the next thursday off. to make up for the time.
Although, the drawback to flex time is you always feel like there is never a good time to take time off. Once you get past the stumbling block that you _always_ have to do something, then flex time gets to be pretty nice.
I think too many of us feel the pressures of IT mounting and feel as though we _have_ to work 12 hour days. If projects are late and you are working 12 hour days, there is a need for more employees on the projects (usually).
Let your boss know it's just not going to work that way, they won't fire you, cause they already are short handed. You might even get promoted for being so straight forward.
Take every last second of your vacation time or IT will kill you. </rant>
...Or whatever you call the 64 bit processor that Intel keeps promissing, should put us a good bit forward, but they have a long way to go until rendering realtime will be reality in any game console.
My second rant... Game consoles are a long way from ever generating the quality of cloth that Maya and others are currently doing for movies. These are two seperate forums that have little in common currently...
My last and final rant... Why cant we have reality in our games, doesn't that make the fantasy that much more adictive?
Do they really think that anything they come up with is going to be secure. People will continue to rip CD's and find ways napster or otherwise to distribute it. Lets get real here.
25 states say yes, they must vote as they people want. in the other 25 states no, they do not have to, however tradition has carried forth, and although I may not be 100% correct on this one, they have only not done as instructed 3 times this century and it had absolutley no influence on the election.
I'm not sure we really need people to do this anymore but the idea of the college is still good.
It's time that states start spliting their electoral college votes. That would give a much more accurate count for future elections. The electoral college seems to a good job at keeping things fair and of avoiding a hyper-democracy. But it would be nice if Florida could split its votes accordingly to the way the population voted.
I heard on wmal a DC area talk radio station last night, if a canditate wins a district, they will get the electoral vote for that district (the vote granted by the house rep.) And if the candidate wins the state, they will get the other two votes (from the sentators) so a state like Florida may pass some votes to each party.
Currently only two states are doing this. I think if we moved towards this, we would be able to keep the checks and balances in place and still move towards a vote which although the popular vote may lean in one direction, the electoral college votes someone else in!
So thats why the StarTAC costs so much for so little. Nokia, may have inovation with silly things like swapable face plates and a nice user interface but...
Point well seen... I have heard tell about Win32 Users working on Linux Terms doing admin funcs like adding user (with linuxconf) and the like, and at the same time bringing down the network.
I guess when you have slashdot posted as your home page you wouldn't have anywhere to go back too...
All joking aside, it really detracts from the surfing experience, if you are looking for something, sometimes you have to search in the search engine to find what you are looking for. Click and visit something not realizing its not what you want, but hey, someone deleted my history! Now you have to start the whole process over again.
I think in the long run, people will choose not to surf these sites (if they even notice the history has been cleared) simply on principle.
Not very well, the one I run is outdoors so it sees lots of sunlight, but as soon as the sun sets, the contrast decreases, and the camera starts getting _very_ dark images. I belive you can adjust the contrast of the images manually before you fire of the camera.
In my outside application pics taken before 8:00am EST are almost too dark to see. The subject for clarification is a steel frame of a building going up against a wooded background. The last image is fired off at 6:00pm, and it too is too dark to see.
But as an infant monitor, you can use streaming video out of the camera which is nice, its also not a tiny little image, its pretty good size and a fair quality.
Axis makes an excellent camera, it can also be plugged into a modem without any sort of PC to run it. We use at work for monitoring our new building facility. We have it clicking off pics every two hours and updating our corporate intranet.
Some models can actually be configured to focus automatically, run streaming video etc.
Most notable about these cameras, is the price drop as of late. CDW has the camera for less than $500.00 which is down about $450.00 dollars since December.
Seems to me, that if someone started a small internet startup on this one, throwing AT and ATX powersupplies into a simple metal box, they might make a fortune... but alas...
If you talk to local machine shops, the smaller ones can sometimes make you custom cases for little more than the cost of the sheet metal. Try looking them up in the phone book, you will have to spec out your own power supply / fan etc, but they can make the holes for you to add stuff to later.
Once you have the case, get yourself some Krylon spraypaint and have at it (you can even do designer cases then!)
If all else fails, someone else mentioned buying some L brackets and drilling some holes, an unsightly but effective solution.
After they monitor the cars, the government will start with the Subdural Implants and before you know it every motion you ever make will be recorded... no longer when someone is on the stand will they ask where were you on the night of the 1st, they will know!
One cool effect, they could enforce restraining orders by shocking someone who comes to close to someone else. Kinda like the Invisible fence for dogs.
Perhaps I am just a little old fasion but I think this will flop world wide.

Aparently COD is an option, so considering that I would belive this guy is legit! Despite his aparent obsession.
Congrats to all Pentium 4 distribs!!!
Have a happy holiday!
Okay, you can pay the developers to code for the 30-50 major os / browser / platform combinations.

For those who are interested:
Dimentional Media Associates is at http://www.3dmedia.com Its a flash site.
The model M-40DV under products seems to do video.
Hope that clears some things up.
Its not missing, spindletop is owned by someone else.
I actually bought my v5 5500 because it will be supported quickly under linux and is well supported in windoz already.
My ATI card which was 3 years old (gasp) just started working well in linux in the last year.
Have to give them credit the red board looks cool!

It seems to me that the 4D maze is actually only 3D!

But can it sync to the Palm version (ie if I have almost finished a level) can I save it and take it with me? Thats what I would want.
Can it sync with a desktop version so I can play Mario on my desktop as well as my Palm? Possibly a good suggestion for down the road?
