Not bloody likely if you ask me. There is no way in hell that Microsoft (or any part of it) would ever stop giving away IE for free. Trying to sell something that others give away for free just doesn't work. Netscape almost exterminated itself that way. Not that making it free helped it much (in the long run), it still sucks.

Nothing. This is my honest opinion. Not everyone is dissatisfied with Microsoft, I only care about one thing: The fact that their software kicks ass. If you ask me, using Linux is giving up .. Windows is superior in every way, including stability and security, once you get it really working right . And before you ask, YES that means installing 47 000 upgrades, addons and patches, (most of them not from Microsoft) but what the hell ... NO PAIN NO GAIN GODDAMNIT!
My Win98 computer hasn't crashed ONCE in months!

    Using Linux is giving up!

You have no idea how wrong you are. Nothing can keep Microsoft from being the #1 software company for decades to come - you Linuxlusers may be all happy now, but you will find that nothing will change because of this lawsuit. OK so maybe Microsoft is forced to change its practices. Well they've changed them so much already that would change nothing. OK so maybe Microsoft is lots of $$$. Well, with Bill being good for $50 billion or so, they can afford it. 90% of the websurfing world will still be using Windows, Internet Explorer and Office when this is all over. Microsoft doesn't need dirty tricks to prosper.

    I have just one question:

If Microsoft released IE for Linux (I know how big the chance of that is, so no need to tell me) would any of you Microsoft-hating Linux-lovers use it? EVEN THOUGH it kicks Netscapes ass in every way imaginable?

Some people seem to think that everything Microsoft does is evil, and that IE has to suck just 'coz it's from Microsoft.
You say "WE will lose the war" .. who the hell are "we"? If we are the public, the consumers, then we have won, and would have won no no matter who had made the best browser, NS och MS. If "we" are a bunch of Linux-loving lamers who honestly believe that Microsoft is an evil empire, then we have lost.

I won, because I'm benefiting from the results of that browser war: I'm using IE5. How about you guys? If you could use IE5 on your Linux machine, would you?

Another two I'd like to add to that list:

Gem - Kicked Win1.0's ass but died 'coz the company behind it couldn't get new versions out in time.
Geo - Microsoft saw it coming and crushed it before it got big. Survived as the OS used in Nokia's cellphones and handhelds.
