No it can't just be ignored. If these laws pass, every EU country will be forced to implement them. The European Commission has very sharp teeth indeed on stuff like this, and does not take kindly to companies trying to ignore its rules.

Sorry - I should add why 7 is better: way faster starting up and shutting down, looks better, super-fast desktop search, excellent toolbar (who cares if they ripped that off Apple?).

Flamebait, I know. But honestly, having used 7 for a while on my personal machines and having to still use XP at work, it's 7 all the way. I shall pretend that Vista never happened.
Again (see above), Sony will have Santa Rosa but will not be releasing notebooks with Robson/TurboMemory this summer. This has actually become a spat between Sony and Microsoft, becuase Sony is claiming that Vista will not support Robson until SP1! (see http://news.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/0,1000000091,3928 7431,00.htm)
What's interesting about this is the fact - according to Sony - that M$ left the support out of Vista deliberately, because it was under such pressure to get the OS out. I wonder what else they left out...
