How could they not love us. Here they have a public opinon poll of sorts where they can steal material from without compensation to the authors. Breaking the rule of not mentioning a news competetor in print is no big deal to these types.
The smart ones fear us, they don't quote slashdot because they see that this is the future of news. When I'm reading an article, I usually click off when I get to any part which mentions slashdot.
$20,000 is a sure way to keep the small people small wouldn't you think It would seem to me that the high cost of obtaining a patent is unconstitutional and prevents any small company from obtaining the protection needed for a new invention.
Bowie was one of the first to jump onto the shock rock bandwaggon which the likes of iggy pop and the sex pistols initiated. Bowie was dressing in womans clothes with the rest of the rockers of their time (even the stones! oof, big mistake Mick!)
Like all "pop artists" they'll jump on any edge they can find and the internet is just the newest edge for Bowie.
None of this is to say Bowie is not good music.. I love the crap!:)
But lets just play "what-if" (and a really big one at that)
Lets suppose the stock market does go south as a result of this. Lets say that Windows is so deeply embedded into every aspect of business that the loss of this company as a viable entity would also result in the loss of operations for some other big shots who also watch in horror as their stocks drop to nothing.
Microsoft has done an incredible job of bringing the masses online. This is a good thing and anyone with half a mind can only applaud this feat. This is good.
I'm against improper business practices.
Microsoft has used their monopoly power to coerce businesses into deals which are improper and violate anti-trust laws. This is bad.
And besides.... Who would we kick around if there were no big bad $MS to point fingers at and giggle.
How could you think that the theaft of ANY of your information without your consent is anything but a privacy concern. If I listen in on your telephone conversations I can go to jail.. If software vendors listen in on something even as simple as our GID they should also be jailed. rpm -e realplayer
