  1. Re:Noise Level on Western Digital's VelociRaptor 10K RPM SATA Drive · · Score: 2, Informative

I have one, and it's very quite. It's makes about the same amount of noise as my 500GB samsung. The only difference is it makes a bit of light "clicking" whenever it's doing a lot of reading/writing.

The problem isn't that the government doesn't allow these companies to exist, it's that comcast buys them all out. Sadly this is true, where I live there used to be 4 major cable companies...now there is one. You guess which one.

It depends where you live...where I live VoIP has far superior quality than POTS. Not as much uptime, but at least you can understand what people are saying. As POTS in my area has so much noise in it, it can be hard to even hear what people are saying. So VoIP and Cell phones are the way to go.

  5. Re:Latency on In-Home Wireless Vs. Mobile Broadband · · Score: 1

Verizon? I get around 80-150ms latency on most games. Which is a tad high for some FPS games, (Fine for others though, like CS and COD4 play great) But just fine for anything else. (Including MMOs) Like doing a tracert to google. Highest time is 201. Lowest is 82, average is 110.

Many people seem to be under the impression you have to have a special router to share an EVDO connection. This is NOT the case!! All you need is a normal router/wireless router. All you do is connect the router to your PC like normal, tell you PC to share the connection to the routers default IP, and it will share the connection just fine. Mine works with my Wii and my wireless laptop great.

  7. Good not quite great. on In-Home Wireless Vs. Mobile Broadband · · Score: 1

I have wireless broadband though Verizon, as I can get no other form of broadband where I am. It's not cable that if for sure. The latency is kinda high for online gaming, but the speeds and decent I generally get around 1.5Mbps. (Most I have seen is around 2.2Mbps, but it's uncommon). One of the good things about it, is it's dual band and symmetrical. (Great for uhh, torrents) I have heard of people having Verizon cut them off after so much downloaded. But well. I have yet to have such an issue. As so far this year I have downloaded. 70,082,579.62KB or 68,441MB or like 67GB. If I dig out one of my statements from last year. The number was rather large. The amusing part was. They are not to good at recording how much I download or upload. As there numbers are always a lot lower than mine.
