My thought on the matter though, is if you're really that paranoid, you can watch the connections list. I wouldn't because I have better things to do, but its there, you can use it.
And yes, I know that a firewall won't close security holes in software...
For those of you on Linux with google desktop, why are you concerned about security. Just use a firewall. Firestarter is relatively easy to set up and you can watch google's stuff if you want to.

I definitely agree to that. Its nice to see corporations porting their softwares to linux.
