I wouldn't hire a CS grad with less than 4 years of practical experience for a even a Junior Developers position. Why not ?

Yes, but they're dropping the price not only because to increase sales, but also because they have an "improved"[*] version pending which will replace the current 60GB unit at $600.
*sigh* This is nothing more than an articulation of the unfettered arrogance of the decision-makers at Sony's games division.
[*] which evidently means 20GB more of unused storage space than you currently have, and cheaper, shittier hardware.
