Technology is a name we give to the greatest achievements of the human race. It is the physical manifestation of an incredible evolutionary process, our own creativity and intelligence. Technology has marked the upward surge of mankind since we first learned to heat our caves with fire. The downside is that fire burns people too. Steel can be made into bridges or swords. Splitting an atom results in energy - to run our computers or to destroy our cities. This dichotomy is the tragedy Mr. Katz alluded to. I have been fascinated with all things technological since before I can remember. I fully embrace technology. In my opinion, a civilization capable of the thought required to create a personal computer or a space shuttle has a fighting chance to survive the inherent dangers. To this end, I remain optimistic. Walt Disney World is a fascinating microcosm. It what happens when you apply capitalism to a pure idea... for better or for worse. I can't wait to read the book.
