Maybe you know something I don't about Scrameustache's alma mater, but I've seen plenty of places putting restrictions on who can take certain courses. There are courses for "physics majors only" or for "engineering school students only" or "not open to students majoring in Liberal Arts," etc.
So you talk to the instructor and your advisor, explain why you really want to take the course, and they give you an exemption to let you register. Unless you have a terrible GPA, you can always negotiate your way around those kinds of restrictions.
My biggest gripe was the small incompatibilities between.ppt and ooimpress; when presenting to an audience of hundreds you can't all of a sudden have text flowing off the slide or the.bmp come up black. If I wanted to share something (most everybody else still runs Powerpoint) I had to doublecheck the whole thing prior to doing the slideshow.
My advice: make a PDF of your presentation. xpdf, Preview, and acroread all support full-screen mode.
There should be a "Federal Anti-Obesity Program" because I find the sight of all that lard more offensive than anything else I've seen so far (goatse included).
That really sucks, but fortunately it's not like that everywhere. Maybe things have improved since you went to school, or maybe it just varies by school. I had a friend who worked through all the high school math and started calculus in junior high (2 years ahead was the highest standard gifted program they had). The district let him take proficiency tests for those courses. My college also has a lot of proficiency exams available--the math department is particularly organized about it; you can proficiency just about anything. I know a lot of people who heavily took advantage of that opportunity. It's a comparable institution to those you've listed on your resume, so hopefully things have improved across the board, at least at the college level.
Microsoft Research's funding is nowhere near $7 billion/year. That's Microsoft's entire R&D budget (for research through product development, but not stuff like advertising and legal).
Right, "Lamborghini Diablo"... is this the 80s? There have been several variations to the Murcielago and Gallardo, and there you go joking about Diablo. LOL.
Dude I see no signs of joking around I think he's totally serious. He wants to make good use of his old car and probably has a few Murcielagos and Gallardos sitting in the garage already.
7.5KM round trip is too far for a bike ride? How lazy are you? That's less than a half-hour bike ride each way. I mean, I know I'm on Slashdot, but yeesh, how bad of shape are you in?
No kidding... not even half an hour, more like 10-15 minutes each way at a reasonable bike commuting pace. Now I wish I had a bicycle!

That's right, all us girls on Slashdot are alright quite grown up. Another downside to the cratering female enrollment in CS.
Oh come on, I think it's a great idea to discriminate based on religion. Die, religious freaks, die!
