What about nikeplus? Maybe the geek community is not traditionally runners, but I really really like nikeplus and I haven't found a hack for that yet, let alone an easy way; this is actually the killer app that keeps my computer booted up on windows and keeps me a poser, although I dualboot Ubuntu.
I also play starcraft and that didn't work so well on ubuntu, but i'm assuming that's a solvable problem (or at least not a daily issue)
