Couple of problems with these statements: 1. It seems to me the little resellers are the ones with oversubscription problems. The biggies are still ok. 2. I have yet to discover a cheap price on cable TV. Comcast (the only one I've had experience with) is greedy as hell. I guess if you consider their "introductory special" cheap, you haven't waited til the regular bills kicked in. They are outrageous for the inadequate "service" supplied. But I bet they've got a solution for bandwidth problems: They'll just hike the prices into the stratosphere. After all, somebody's got to pay for the boss's new yacht.
How very sad. Political opposition stopped by what can be described as "goon squads".
I have the feeling that history is repeating itself again and again. I am aware that comparisons are, most times, odious but I can remember as a kid that we were taught about Herr Hitler's rise to power in the Nazi Party in Germany. Because freedom of speech and freedom of protest were only given lip service in 1930's Germany, the Nazi's were allowed to use whatever methods they chose, when silencing hecklers and protestors during Nazi Bund oratory.
Once peaceful protest is silenced by force, a fearful quiet falls over those who have opposing views. The phrase "When I am the Boss..." comes into actual, real life play and humankind resorts to a "I'd better keep my mouth shut or I'll just disappear" fear of what can happen to the protester.
It is something to dreaded. Not something one should simply bow his/her head to and say "everybody does it. We could not be heard if we allowed people to disagree verbally."
It's not just a case of undeserved A's being given. It
is also a case of undeserved "pass" being given. Just had a case where I live wherein a former school board member interceded in a kid's final grade in English. Teacher, with principal's blessing, had given kid an F. Board member called principal to raise grade so illiterate kid could graduate. Principal said "no way". School board met, raised kid's grade to a D. Kid graduated with his other semi illiterate mates. And the school got gov credit for graduating another welfare wanter.
When I went to school D was also failing. Guess it ain't so, nowadays.
I find the lack of competition to cable connection is only market greed. If my business is the only game in town, you can pay what I want you to or go without. All the while I'll be telling you about how my business cares.
Just a couple of questions: Since IPs do not suggest what country an email or any other communication comes from, how do our snoops in the gov decide which communications they can look at? Well, do you suppose they have to look at your emails?
And maybe listen in to your phone calls? After all, how else would we know you weren't talking to the Taliban? You're talking to aunt Marge? Maybe. And maybe you're talking to a mole in Iraq through interlocking phone connections all over the world. Someone needs to decide. But of course your government wouldn't listen in to your calls, nor read your email, now would they? Just because they can?
No, the Governator isn't being hypocritical. He is smart enough to recognize that many films he has been in are not suitable for certain age ranges. And you don't sound as if you'd disagree with this either.
And yes, he knows he'd lose a couple of bucks if the wee kiddies couldn't be taken to his flicks.
Logically, therefore, he is more interested in protecting our children than in making a buck. I wish more of our politicians felt this way.
"I believe that people of earlier generations do not understand games - they see an interactive medium and believe that the interactivity somehow makes it more personal, or influencial." This makes no sense, bad spelling aside. Are you suggesting that one must be a certain age to understand a game?
I'm assuming you are very young. Make sure your teachers take extra care with you, because one day you could become an important thinker.
