I dont understand USA carriers, in Brasil you can unlock your phone anytime, the carriers have the contract to keep us "lock" to them for 1 year. And ANATEL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_Agency_of_Telecommunications) established a few years ago that every cell phone must be unlocked, because, one more time, the carriers have the contract to keep us "lock" to them for 1 year.
And in Brasil 2 years contract for carriers become illegal.
