I am some what doubtful that IBM will do more than just install Linux on the laptop. I recently purchased a few new laptops and wanted to get some more information about the hardware and they told me to call Linux (do they know that linux isnt a company??)
To be able to support Linux and I mean support in the software sense they would need to fire all their current employees which no nothing about it and hire trained Linux profesionals.
