First, moderate this up. This guy's got some good points.
This post begs the question, though, who's to do the ruling? The federal government? Some sort of multi-national group like the UN?
I have always thought that the way to combat things like spam is through programatically battling them. Write software to block it! Why legislate when we can simple install some software?
I wonder if this is covered under my HMO.:-) Seriously, though, I wonder about the insurance industry and how they are going to handle things like this coming up. LASIK is getting more and more popular, but it is still expensive. If getting a processor like this is cheaper than LASIK and cheaper than conventional glasses -- what's the future of vision plans? At what point do they spring for the implants/glasses/lasers to fix you up? Of course, with all the genome stuff going on, maybe they'll make you fix it before the child is even born.
Great, so we can have a really small doohickey to do stuff quickly. The problem I see in the future of portable computing is interface. Get this little doohickey to understand me when I'm talking (or thinking) to it, then you've got a product. Until then, much smaller than a palm pilot, and you've got problems.
I've recently gotten into the DVD biz, and found this site that has some fantastic coupons for various sites. Just click on the DVD bargains forum, and surf a little. Currently, with the use of this site, I am averaging about $12-$13 a CD! I managed to get the Matrix for $10! --dan
