The rest of the year, the incandescence bulb is helping to heat my house. Is the light bulb that much less efficient at heating my house than an electric heater?
I use FTP over a VPN to back up some files (mput *). The big files slow down to about 20% of advertised upload speeds after maybe 10 seconds or so, while small files just fly.
I have noticed that when I FTP several files for network-based backup (mput *), the small ones have great upload throughput, but the big ones are terrible. I assume they try to degrade any large 'batch' uploads. Does anybody have a different experience?
