  1. flipped orbit on A Planet That Orbits Its Star the Wrong Way · · Score: 1

I suspect that the orbit was flipped over the top of the star (y axis) by a gravitational influence. The gravitational influence could have come from a neighboring star above the star's orbital plane. This would pull a planet above the plane, and with enough time, it may have flipped it to the opposite orbit.

But a "friend" can do that already. If a person did that to me, I would have the license plate dusted for fingerprints, and get a lawyer to defend me in court. Let's see how the "friend" enjoys the prank of me getting him busted.

  4. What will happen if this becomes a major problem on Using Speed Cameras To Send Tickets To Your Enemies · · Score: 1

Police will park nearby those cameras in unmarked cars. When someone runs the red light, They will get stopped by real police officers, and their license plates will be checked. If it's a forgery, they get jail time. When the kids learn that their friends are going to jail, they'll stop the practice or do it sparingly once they think police have stopped patrolling the area. It could become a problem that occurs occasionally.

I can foresee that people who actually do run red lights will tell the judge, "but someone forged my license plate!" How do you prove or disprove that you weren't their at that time? What little amount of evidence would you need?

The camera video quality will need to be improved drastically and have special light filters to remove windshield glare so they can get the faces of the driver and riders as well as the license plates. That will be expensive, but the best method for getting the best evidence at the scene of the infraction.

The logistics of maneuvering two satellites (kilometers apart) to stay aligned would be daunting. More research needs to be done to decrease the focal length.

How about giving the user the option to change their font, and also give user(s) the ability to keep font static? If font sizes get annoying, just check a menu option labeled "Static Font." Is that so hard? I really hope that I'm the first to think of this compromise. (shaking my head at humanity as a nerd war seems to be imminent)

We have too many safety labels and safety laws to protect people from their own stupidity. If hard-core Mike wants to race without a motorcycle helmet, let him! Let a bug fly in his eye and let us watch something we only get to see on tv. If he doesn't die, at least he may be hideously disfigured. Our safety laws are letting guys like Mike breed with women that should be breeding with us! Brawndo anyone?

  9. Plenty of Countries to Choose From on Big Brother Really Is Watching Us All · · Score: 2, Insightful

I know you've all heard, "if you don't like it here, why don't you go somewhere else," or something to that effect. That doesn't sound like such a bad idea. Third world countries are improving their IT infrastructure. Mexico is cracking down on its police corruption and gang violence. I'm sure their economies are going to improve too since industrialized nations are outsourcing much of their work to those places. You might lose a few freedoms, because each country has different laws and restrictions, but you'll most likely gain more since the US & UK have so many laws, ordinances, codes, rules, and regulations.

For a long while, people have immigrated here and brain-drained there own countries. It's sort of like an economy of human resources. If other countries become more attractive, then like business, people will start moving there too.
