The luddite, rightwing conservative comment was taken the wrong way, clearly. But than again, what could I expect. I read most of the comments and have to say that I didn't intend them to be flamebait as the original post was flagged. Poor choice of words on my part obviously.

I will stand by that. Whether the change is good or not is not the point. The fact that someone is trying to change, trying to light out on something new is what I should have expressed. Maybe what Unity is trying to do will in the end fail. Stuff happens. Not everything succeeds.
But trying to break out of the mold is what is important. I just did a shitty job of expressing that in the first post.
The fact the Canonical is backtracking shows at least that they see their 'mistake'.
And here I am again, saying that it is nice to have the choice.
I realize now that I used the wrong phrase to express that. I enjoyed reading the responses though. What I meant to say and what the crowd heard was interesting to me, not necessarily to you of course. We don't have the benefit of being in the same room having this conversation. There is no eye contact, no body language, no chance to change mid-stream. The words just sit there on the page. With all there faults on display and with no recourse.

Wow. We are talking about a user interface. It works for some but not for others. I stated that it was nice to give the users the ability to choose between the two. What is the big deal? This is not some life or death situation. It is just a personal preference. I do like change and am willing to try new interfaces. I have used most of them over the past 20 years. I just happen to like Unity. And the global menu is no big deal to me anymore. That is all I was saying. You, sir, went off the deep end with your response.
its working pretty good for me on ubuntu 9.10. I would like to see it remember the font size of the page next time it opened, like it does in firefox. As it is now, upon opening the page will default to whatever the default is.
I miss the ability to do keywords to my bookmarks too.
I would think this would be easy to fix. Chrome can only get better as it goes forward.
Thats pretty harsh. Do you have a 401k, stocks or bonds. Then at a certain level you are a shareholder too. I know I want the best return on my investment. Having said that, I would say that a line has to be drawn somewhere. I am not some communist/socialist/liberal take all of the rich peoples money and give it to the poor ( like that would solve anything) but I do think an individual/corporation should have some sort of moral/ethical compass to abide by. And I don't think its all that complicated to figure out either.

As a linux user, and someone that is not too fond of microsoft,a bad thing this is not.
